Caring Beyond Cleaning: Giving Back at Camp Kiwanis in Ocala
At Warren’s Power Washing, we believe clean buildings create stronger communities—but sometimes, our impact goes beyond curb appeal. That’s why we launched our Caring Beyond Cleaning initiative, where each month we donate a full day (or two) of professional cleaning services to a deserving local nonprofit.
For the month of May, we had the incredible opportunity to partner with an organization whose mission resonates deeply with us: Camp Kiwanis, operated by the Kiwanis Club of Ocala. This special place isn’t just a summer camp—it’s a launchpad for character-building, leadership development, and lifelong memories for hundreds of Marion County youth. We were honored to help them get ready for a busy season of life-changing experiences.
Why We Chose Camp Kiwanis
When we consider who to help through our Caring Beyond Cleaning program, we look for groups making a measurable difference in the lives of others. Camp Kiwanis stood out immediately.
Tucked away in the Ocala National Forest, Camp Kiwanis serves as a place where children—many from underserved backgrounds—can enjoy nature, learn responsibility, and grow as individuals. The camp’s mission is to “build better communities, one child at a time.” That aligns beautifully with what we strive to do: build up our community, one clean property—and one act of service—at a time.
The Work We Donated
Camp Kiwanis serves hundreds of kids every summer, with dozens of outdoor structures, cabins, dorms, and pavilions that need regular upkeep. Like many nonprofits, their budget is stretched tight, and maintenance often takes a backseat to program expenses. That’s where we came in.
In May, our crew dedicated two full days to pressure washing and soft washing all major areas of the camp:
Dormitories – We deep-cleaned the exteriors of the camp’s sleeping quarters to eliminate mildew, dirt, and algae buildup. This not only made them look great but also improved health and safety for campers.
Concrete Areas & Sidewalks – These high-traffic paths needed special care to remove years of grime and slippery algae. Our surface cleaning equipment brought back the bright, safe finish that campers deserve.
Large Pavilion – As a central gathering space, the pavilion is used for meals, activities, and group events. We washed every corner of the structure, from the roof to the floor, so it’s ready for summer fun.
Outbuildings – Sheds, bathhouses, and auxiliary facilities were cleaned and treated, helping extend the life of the camp’s infrastructure.
We brought our full arsenal—eco-safe detergents, soft wash systems, and commercial-grade pressure washers—to make sure every inch sparkled.
About the Kiwanis Club of Ocala
The Kiwanis Club of Ocala has been serving Marion County since 1923. Their mission is simple yet powerful: “Improving the world, one child and one community at a time.”
Kiwanis clubs all over the world support projects that benefit children, but what sets the Ocala chapter apart is their deep-rooted local focus. They’re behind numerous programs in the community—from Terrific Kids school recognition to scholarships, food drives, and of course, Camp Kiwanis.
For nearly 75 years, Camp Kiwanis has offered affordable summer camp experiences to children ages 7–13, especially those who may never have the chance otherwise. It’s more than campfires and canoe trips; it’s a chance for these kids to:
Unplug from technology and reconnect with nature
Develop leadership and social skills
Gain self-confidence and independence
Meet lifelong friends and mentors
These are the building blocks of strong, resilient young people—and that’s something we are proud to support.
Why This Work Matters
Cleaning isn’t just about looks—it’s about care. When a space is clean, it feels respected. It becomes a place where people feel safe, valued, and inspired. That’s especially true for children, who thrive in environments that are well-maintained and thoughtfully prepared.
By donating our time and services to Camp Kiwanis, we hope to free up resources that the camp can reinvest into programming, staff training, and camper scholarships. Every dollar they don’t have to spend on pressure washing is a dollar they can use to change a child’s life.
A Community Effort
We didn’t do it alone. The Kiwanis Club members were incredibly welcoming and helped coordinate the access and timing for our crew. It was inspiring to meet some of the volunteers and hear stories about the camp’s legacy and impact over the years.
One of our favorite moments came from a retired Kiwanis volunteer who told us, “I went to this camp in the ‘60s—and now I help send my grandkids here. What you’re doing makes a difference.” That kind of multigenerational impact is why we give back.
Our Ongoing Mission
Caring Beyond Cleaning is more than a corporate initiative—it’s a core value at Warren’s Power Washing. We’ve been a part of the Ocala community for over 16 years, and this is our way of saying thank you.
Each month, we choose a nonprofit, school, or community center that could use a little professional TLC. Past recipients have included Boys & Girls Clubs, local churches, and animal rescues. Whether it’s a few sidewalks or an entire facility, we bring the same level of professionalism and heart.
