Here are 15 questions worth asking any pressure washing company before you hire them, along with our own answers.
About the company
1. How long have you been in business?
A track record means they’ve seen a lot of houses and stuck around. Ours: since 2008, 18 years as of 2026.
2. Are you insured? Can I see the certificate?
Ask for a certificate of insurance (COI) showing general liability. If they have employees, ask about workers’ comp too. Ours: we’re insured with general liability.
3. Are you licensed?
Florida doesn’t have a state license for pressure washing, so ask for proof of insurance and state registration instead. You can look a business up on Florida’s Sunbiz site, and ask whether they hold a local business tax receipt where required. Ours: we’re registered with the State of Florida and insured with general liability.
4. Who will actually show up?
It’s fair to ask who’s coming and whether it’s their own crew. Ours: a two-person crew on every job.
5. Can I see real before-and-after photos?
Look for photos of their own jobs, not stock images. Ours: see our projects.
6. What do recent reviews say?
Read recent reviews, and look at how the company responds when something went wrong.
About the method
7. Which surfaces do you soft wash and which do you pressure wash?
Roofs, siding and screens need low pressure. Concrete can take more. Ours: see soft washing vs pressure washing.
8. Do you use high pressure on roofs?
The answer should be no. Shingle makers warn against it. Ours: no. We soft wash roofs at low pressure.
9. What’s in your cleaning mix?
Ask for a straight answer. Ours: chlorine-based. See more about our cleaner.
10. How will you protect my plants?
Ours: we keep plants wet the whole time we work, on house washes and roofs. We cover delicate plants and rinse everything again when we finish.
11. What do I need to do before you come?
Usually: close windows and doors, keep pets inside, move cars and small items away from the house, and tell them about any outdoor outlets, lights or ponds.

A good quote lists:

- The method for each
- Stain treatments (rust, oil)
- For sealing: the sealer brand and finish
- What’s not included
13. Is the price in writing?
Get the quote in writing before work starts, so there are no surprises.
14. What if I’m not happy with something?
Ask before you hire, not after. Ours: we do everything possible to make our customers happy.
15. When can you come, and how long will it take?
Ours: our hours are Monday through Saturday, 8 AM to 8 PM. For businesses, we also work outside business hours, at night or early in the morning. Paver restoration usually takes two days.
